“No, he is not,” Elora stated stubbornly, as she gave Adira a knowing look. Rolling her eyes, Adira managed a laugh as she laid on her bed, staring at the ceiling.

“Yes, he is!” For the past three hours, Elora was Adira’s only company. They had lunch together and were talking about anything and nothing. Although Elora was one of the most trustworthy people she's met in that place, Adira was reluctant to share her feelings for Isaiah to Elora.

There was a certain way that Elora would react whenever Adira would bring him up. Adira was a curious creature, yet she was never nosy. She didn’t ask what that was all about, knowing that Elora would tell her on her own terms if she trusted her enough. However, there was a feeling in Adira’s gut that left her restless.

She wanted to place the feeling, yet she couldn’t. Instead, she enjoyed the time she spent with someone and not being alone in that big room. “Again, no, he is not, Adira. Give it a rest.” Elora sighed.

The girls were arguing about who was better looking, Henry Cavill or David Gandy, and Adira was set on changing Elora’s mind. “Henry is the definition of daddy and big dick energy, Elora. I can’t help it if you’re blind.”

Elora mocked her, before throwing a pillow at her head, which Adira missed with ease. “Shut up,” Elora muttered, before laying down next to Adira.

“Hey, can I ask you something?” At Adira’s question, Elora turned to the girl and nodded, as Adira’s eyes never left the ceiling. “How did you end up here?”

Elora froze at the question. The question was unexpected, to say the least. It wasn’t that she didn’t trust Adira. She did, however, she wasn’t prepared for the question to be asked.

Elora sighed. “Okay, it’s one hell of a ride. Get comfortable.” She laughed. Behind her laugh was uneasiness. It was the first time Elora thought about talking about that in years.

Adira straightened attentively.

“When I was seventeen, my parents sold me to the black market.”

Adira literally choked on air before turning her head in Elora’s direction.

“My parents were never my parents. From a young age, I knew that I was only a piece of their property, they owned me. They never abused me physically but if I didn’t do well in school, they would lock me up for days without food and water until I learned my lesson about being stupid.” She paused with a chuckle. Adira fisted her hands in a pillow.

“When they got tired of paying for my education, they sold me. Though, it was rather cheap. A man that was older than my father bought me to be his personal slave and I knew that I would be living hell.”

Elora wasn’t looking at Adira, but she felt her burning gaze on the side of her head. Adira only sympathized with the girl, not knowing what to say and feeling guilty for asking at all.

“For the first few weeks it was just chores, but I had to look pretty doing it.
